The total weekly turnover of all futures contracts of major commodities was Rs 46,608 crores during the week ended on Thursday (February 07-22) from previous week’s turnover of Rs 51,202 crores.
The MCX COMDEX closed at 2212.4 up 68.7 points (3.20 per cent) during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,693.28 up 6.08 points (0.36 per cent); MCX Energy Index closed at 2,207.56, up 126.86 points (6.10 per cent) and MCX Metal Index closed at 2766.11, up 58.28 points (2.19 per cent).
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 13,962.10 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 11,387 crore. The open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 12705.9 kgs and the total volume recorded was 145,498 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 5587,860 kgs. The open interest for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 400,815 kgs.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 7456.5 crore with open interest of 14,006 tons and recorded total volume of 286,847 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 4180 crore, with open interest of 14,855 tons and recorded 278,090 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 5450 crore with open interest of 1173,700 barrels and recorded total volume of 20,852,200 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 805 crore with open interest of 1,119,500 mmbtu and recorded 24,066,500 mmBtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover:- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 159.26 crore, with open interest of 7190 tons and total volume recorded was 84,560 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 517.60 crore, with open interest of 1,880 tons and total volume recorded was 8,875 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 35,710 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 579.27 crore and total volume recorded was 129,930 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 110.15 crore, with open interest of 621 tons and total volume recorded was 2242.2 tons.
