Total turnover (single sided) of all MCX contracts for the week May 4-10, 2007 (Friday-Thursday) 2007 was Rs 49,928.41 crore, up 14.35% from the previous week’s close.
MCX COMDEX at 2168.16 points was down 1.99% from the previous closing of 2212.16 points. MCX Agri Index closed down 1.87% at 1679.42 points, MCX Energy Index at 2138.02 points was down 1.95% and MCX Metal Index at 2659.48 points was down 2.06%.
In the Bullion segment, MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs 12,646.61 crore, up 27.03% from the previous closing, silver contracts clocked turnover of Rs 10,190.29 crore, down 1.9%. Open interest for all gold contracts was 15,613.2 kgs and total volume recorded was 138,289.3 kgs. Open interest for all silver contracts was 541,305 kgs and total volume was 5,428,220 kgs.
In the Metal segment, MCX Copper contracts across the board registered a turnover of Rs 10,864.18 crore, up 20.49%. Open interest was 12,917 tonnes and total volume 323,339 tonnes.
MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 6,904.87 crore, up 42.77%, open interest of 19,385 tonnes and total volume of 410,025 tonnes.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs 6,318.98 crore, up 5.86%, open interest of 1,355,400 barrels and total volume of 24,738,400 barrels while natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 239.45 crore, up 0.97%, open interest of 1,422,000 mmbtu and total volume of 7,457,000 mmbtu.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 149.07 crore, open interest of 1366.2 tonnes and total volume of 2569.32 tonnes.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts, with open interest of 46,280 tonnes, registered a turnover of Rs. 808.39 crore and total volume of 167,820 tonnes.
- All MCX Potato (Agra) contract registered a turnover of Rs. 153.38 crore, open interest of 73,470 tonnes and total volume of 257,430 tonnes.
