Total weekly turnover of all futures contracts was Rs 43,680.76 crore (single sided) for the week ended April 4 (Friday-Wednesday) against Rs 53,169.24 crore for the week ended March 29 (Friday-Thursday).
MCX COMDEX closed at 2277.83 points, up 0.08% over the previous closing of 2276.09, MCX Agri Index closed at 1776.44, up 1.72% over the previous close of 1746.32, MCX Energy Index closed at 2279.86, down 2.73% against the previous close of 2343.85, and MCX Metal Index closed at 2754.28, up 1.98% over the previous close of 2700.83.
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 10,514.88 crore against the previous week’s turnover of 12,556.98 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 9095.69 crore (Rs. 10,982.88 crore). Open interest for all gold contracts was 8,262.5 kgs (13,407.2 kgs) and total volume recorded was 1,11,002.1 kgs (1,33,575.4 kgs). Open interest for all silver contracts was 3,88,075 kgs (4,23,840 kgs) and total volume was 46,59,150 kgs (55,88,990 kgs).
In the Metal segment, MCX Copper contracts across the board registered a turnover of Rs 7,957.01 crore (Rs.9,286.07 crore) with open interest of 12,817 tonnes (10,877 tonnes) and total volume of 2,56,767 tonnes (3,10,472 tonnes). MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 3,492.29 crore (Rs. 3,758.04 crore), open interest of 21,675 tonnes (28,480 tonnes) and total volume of 2,39,775 tonnes (2,62,790 tonnes).
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs 8,869.13 crore (Rs 9,217.79 crore), open interest of 15,00,100 barrels (18,89,300 barrels) and total volume of 3,13,21,900 barrels (3,32,01,800 barrels) while natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 371.56 crore (Rs. 934.27 crore), open interest of 12,87,500 mmbtu (9,75,000 mmbtu) and total volume of 1,10,94,500 mmbtu (2,80,01,000 mmbtu).
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 283.87 crore, open interest of 1584.72 tonnes and total volume of 5026.68 tonnes.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts, with open interest of 51,910 tonnes, registered a turnover of Rs. 835.95 crore and total volume of 1,76,290 tonnes.
- All MCX Potato (Agra+ Tarkeshwar) contract registered a turnover of Rs. 345.85 crore, open interest of 1,45,710 tonnes and total volume of 6,02,760 tonnes.
