Total turnover (single sided) of all MCX contracts for the week September 28 - October 4, 2007 (Friday-Thursday) was Rs 51,950.39 crore.
MCX COMDEX at 2246.27 points was down 0.26% from the previous close. MCX Agri Index closed down 0.51% at 1673.40 points, MCX Energy Index at 2450.99 points was down 0.04% and MCX Metal Index at 2552.61 points was down 0.39%.
In the Bullion segment, MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs 17,099.10 crore. Open interest of all gold contracts was 11,482 kgs and total volume 180,337 kgs. The December gold contract was up 0.03% at Rs 9475 per 10 gms from the previous week close.
Silver contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 10,930.30 crore. Open interest for all silver contracts was 480,100 kgs and total volume 6,023,295 kgs. Silver for December delivery was down 1.2% at Rs 17,971 per kg.
In the Metal segment, MCX Copper contracts across the board registered a turnover of Rs 5783.73 crore. Open interest was 14,810,000 tonnes and total volume 179,504,000 tonnes. Copper for November delivery was up 1.86% at Rs 323.30 per kg.
MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 3810.09 crore. Open interest was 42,940 tonnes and total volume 306,635 tonnes. The October contract was down 1.61% at Rs 122.35 per kg.
Nickel contracts turnover was Rs 1548.67 crore, open interest 1,256,000 tonnes and volume 12,395,750 tonnes. The October contract fell 3.73% at Rs 1236.80 per kg.
Lead contracts clocked turnover of Rs 2640.17 crore, OI of 15,130 tonnes and volume of 188,290 tonnes. Lead for October delivery gained 5.45% at Rs 144.15 per kg.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs 7952.16 crore. Open interest was 1,598,400 barrels and total volume 24,839,600 barrels. The October contract was down 1.54% at Rs 3204 per barrel.
Natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 477.24 crore, open interest of 893,500 mmbtu and total volume of 16,597,000 mmbtu. The October contract was up 6.51% at Rs 291.30 per mmBTU.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover- All Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 178.98 crore, open interest of 2100 tonnes and total volume of 3502 tonnes. Mentha oil for November delivery was down 0.04% at Rs 516.10 per kg.
- All MCX Refined Soya Oil contracts, with open interest of 47,700 tonnes, registered a turnover of Rs 847.09 crore and total volume of 175,110 tonnes. The November contract was down 0.04% at Rs 516.10 per 10 kg.
- MCX Potato (Agra) contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 27 crore, open interest of 32,070 tonnes and total volume of 43,470 tonnes. The October contract was down 1.85% at Rs 624.80 per quintal (100 kg).
- The Potato (Tarkeshwar) contract recorded turnover of Rs 11.01 crore, OI of 18,420 tonnes and volume of 16,860 tonnes. The November delivery contract closed down 6.63% at Rs 633.50 per quintal.
- Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs 158.23 crore, OI of 951 tonnes and volume of 2811 tonnes. The October contract was down 2.56% at Rs 551.50 per kg.
- MCX Chana contracts recorded a turnover of Rs 54.80 crore, OI of 3280 tonnes and volume of 23,880 tonnes. The October contract was down 1.62% at Rs 2249 per quintal.
- MCX Kapaskhali contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 22.93 crore, OI of 19,845 tonnes and volume of 31,760 tonnes. The November contract fell 0.41 % at Rs 314.20 per 50 kg.
- MCX Guarseed contracts recorded turnover of Rs 1.42 crore, OI of 1520 tonnes and volume of 860 tonnes. The November contract was down 0.42% at Rs 1677 per quintal.
