The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,185.15 up 0.61 points during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,732.07 up 1.17 points; MCX Energy Index closed at 2,256.54 down 1.67 points and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,566.85, up 2.33 points.
The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs. 24,278.36 crore for the period December 28, 2006.
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 6,172.60 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 5,756.36 crore. The open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 26,768 kgs and the total volume recorded was 67355.9 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 3,006,180 kgs. The open interest for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 18,532 kgs.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 2,923.11 crore with open interest of 20,828 tons and recorded total volume of 101,047 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 1,521.53 crore, with open interest of 1,874 tons and recorded 80,505 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 2,698.25 crore with open interest of 9,815,800 barrels and recorded total volume of 11,735 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 611.67 crore with open interest of 21,173,500 mmbtu and recorded 6,437 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1456.25 crore, with open interest of 720,070 tons and total volume recorded was 1,072 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 919.79 crore, with open interest of 15,050 tons and total volume recorded was 7,546 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 32,400 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 1396.13 crore and total volume recorded was 294,660 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 195.38 crore, with open interest of 4,738.6 tons and total volume recorded was 3,461 tons.
