The MCX COMDEX closed at 2,171.8 down 3.60 points during the course of the week; while the MCX Agri Index closed at 1,712.09 up 2.15 points; MCX Energy Index closed at 2,294.93 down 0.81 points and MCX Metal Index closed at 2,508.37, down 6.94 points.
The Exchange has recorded a total weekly turnover of Rs. 48,258.89 crore for the period December 21, 2006.
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 13,050.22 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts have recorded a turnover of Rs. 16,191.22 crore. The outstanding open interest for all MCX Gold contracts was 13,542.2 kgs and the total volume recorded was 13,542.2 kgs. The total volume of all Silver contracts recorded was 8,371,850 kgs. The outstanding position for all MCX Silver contracts for the week was 382,430 kgs.
In the Metal segment, all MCX Copper contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 5,605.28 crore with open interest of 20,451 tons and recorded total volume of 186,818 tons; while all MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 2,853.63 crore, with open interest of 11,365 tons and recorded 146,850 tons as total volume.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 4076.67 crore with open interest of 910,500 barrels and recorded total volume of 14,373,700 barrels; while all MCX natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 925.55 crore with open interest of 2,945,500 mmbtu and recorded 28,724,500 mmbtu as total volume.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover:- All Guarseed contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 2262.34 crore, with open interest of 13,140 tons and total volume recorded was 1,083,980 tons.
- All MCX Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 1247.50 crore, with open interest of 19812.6 tons and total volume recorded was 3233.88 tons.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts with open interest of 32,400 tons registered a turnover of Rs. 963.53 crore and total volume recorded was 164,590 tons.
- All MCX Cardamom contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 132.88 crore, with open interest of 620 tons and total volume recorded was 3,419 tons.
