Total weekly turnover of all futures contracts was Rs 49,004.03 crore for the week ended March 22 (Friday-Thursday) against the previous week’s turnover of Rs 55,474.24 crore.
MCX COMDEX closed at 2193.08 points, up 0.76% over its previous close, MCX Agri Index closed at 1701.14 points, down 0.49%, MCX Energy Index closed at 2154.51, up 0.98% and MCX Metal Index closed at 2696.93, up 0.98%.
In the Bullion segment, all MCX Gold contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 12,419.80 crore, while all MCX Silver contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 10,134.42 crore. Open interest for all gold contracts was 14,216.7 kgs and total volume recorded was 1,31,984.3 kgs. Open interest for all silver contracts was 3,39,620 kgs and total volume, 51,58,230 kgs.
In the Metal segment, MCX Copper contracts across the board registered a turnover of Rs.8678.74 crore with open interest of 10,586 tonnes and total volume of 2,94,575 tonnes. MCX Zinc contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 4,497.63 crore, open interest of 30,010 tonnes and total volume of 3,13,060 tonnes.
In the Energy segment, all MCX crude oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 6196.90 crore, open interest of 1,11,17,000 barrels and total volume of 2,33,96,700 barrels while natural gas contracts recorded a turnover of Rs. 592.12 crore, open interest of 10,22,000 mmbtu and total volume of 1,85,66,500 mmbtu.
Some of the other major agri-commodities traded on MCX registered the following turnover -
- All Mentha Oil contracts registered a turnover of Rs. 524.30 crore, open interest of 1913 tonnes and total volume of 9390.96 tonnes.
- All MCX Refined Soy Oil contracts, with open interest of 47,210 tonnes, registered a turnover of Rs. 915.48 crore and total volume of 1,99,260 tonnes.
- All MCX Potato (Agra+ Tarkeshwar) contract registered a turnover of Rs. 1,032.86 crore, open interest of 1,26,660 tonnes and total volume of 17,24,010 tonnes.
