May 2005 Volume At NYBOT Up 15% YTD

Combined 2005 futures and options trading volume at the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) maintained a record pace -- running 15% ahead of 2004 Year-To-Date (YTD), with the total futures and options volume registering 15,246,694 contracts through the May 2005, versus 13,280,916 contracts in the first five months of 2004.

Individual product highlights through May 2005 (all YTD) include:

  • Volume in NYBOT’s Cotton No. 2SM (symbol CT) futures contract is up 24%.

  • The Sugar No. 11SM (symbol SB) futures contract volume is up 19%, and the options contract (symbol SO) volume is 8% ahead. Additionally, the Sugar 14SM futures contract has climbed 17%.

  • Cocoa futures (symbol CC) are up 9% and the options (symbol CO) 43%.

  • The options contracts for Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice (or FCOJ, symbol OJ) are now running 42% ahead.

  • The Coffee “C”® options contract (symbol KC) shows a 38% increase.

  • In the financial markets, the U.S. Dollar Index® (symbol DX®) futures contract has gained 19%, and the futures contract for the Russell 1000® Index (symbol R) is up 13%, and the options have jumped 72%.
