Markus Habbel Appointed Chief Financial Officer Of SIX

Markus Habbel will become the new CFO and member of the Executive Board of SIX on June 1, 2026. With nearly three decades of international experience in finance, strategy, and leadership, he will oversee the company’s global financial operations and support its next phase of growth.

Markus Habbel has been nominated as CFO and member of the Executive Board of SIX effective 1 June 2026. He joins from Bain & Company, where he served as Senior Partner and global leader for Wealth & Asset Management and Financial Services Market Infrastructure, driving significant growth while advising leading European FMI’s and wealth managers on strategy, technology transformation, and M&A. Previously, he held senior finance leadership roles at UBS, including CFO Global Wealth Management and CFO UBS Group EMEA, and began his career with positions at McKinsey & Company, where he was Partner and a leader of the Corporate Finance Practice, and Morgan Stanley.

He holds a PhD in Economics from Martin Luther University and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Heidelberg.

Markus Habbel will succeed Daniel Schmucki, who will leave SIX at the end of July (see media release dated 19 January 2026).
