Executive Chairman of MDEX Encik Abdul Jabbar Abdul Majid said remisiers should take the necessary steps to have a dual licence.
"In this way, remisiers will be in a better position to better serve the growing needs of their clients.
"At the same time, remisiers can expand their trading capability to grow their client base," he said.
Abdul Jabbar was speaking at the second MDEX Roadshow with Persatuan Remisier Bumiputera Malaysia (PRIBUMI) in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. The first MDEX-PRIBUMI roadshow was held in Penang.
"The objective of these roadshows by MDEX and PRIBUMI are to ensure that remisiers are kept updated and aware of the latest developments in derivatives.
"The effort made through this roadshow will contribute in the on-going professional training and development of remisiers," Abdul Jabbar added.
The MDEX-PRIBUMI Roadshow held in Penang in January attracted 125 participants whilst the roadshow held in Kuala Lumpur today attracted 250 participants.
"At MDEX we are committed to educating the investing public on the value and effectiveness of derivatives and we believe that remisiers have an important and greater role to play.
"We hope to tap the expertise and marketing skills of remisiers in ensuring more participation by the Malaysian public in the derivatives markets of MDEX," he said.
Briefings organised for MDEX-PRIBUMI Roadshow include products and trading strategies of the derivatives market and the performance of the Malaysian equity market.
