Malaysia Derivatives Exchange Roadshows To Enhance Awareness Of Derivatives

Date 16/08/2002

Malaysia Derivatives Exchange Berhad (MDEX) series of nationwide roadshows are designed to enhance awareness of the advantages and benefits of derivatives as an investment tool.

MDEX Chief Operating Officer Dr. Zaha Rina Zahari said that unlike investing in securities, there are many aspects of investing in derivatives that are not widely known.

"At the mention of the word derivatives, many may feel intimidated by its perceived complexities, whilst the jargons related to the derivatives investment tend to dominate the market. There have also been prominent coverage on derivatives in a less positive way.

"What is forgotten is that it is through proper application, derivatives improves the ability to hedge against losses," she said.

Dr. Zaha Rina added it is through the series of roadshows that MDEX is able to ensure that the uses and applications of derivatives are understood in its proper context.

Through the MDEX Peninsular Malaysia Derivatives Roadshow 2002, MDEX offers briefings covering both fundamental and significant topics on derivatives including:

  • How Futures & Options Work
  • MDEX & Its Products
