London Stock Exchange: Over 11,000 Broadcasts And 288 Commercial Events In The Media & Business Complex's First Year

Date 14/06/2005

The Media & Business Complex, the London Stock Exchange’s purpose-built broadcast and event venue, marks its first anniversary today.

In its first twelve months of operation, the Media & Business Complex has facilitated over 11,000 live broadcasts and organised 288 commercial events, establishing itself as one of the City of London’s most prestigious venues whilst enhancing the Exchange’s position as the focal point of the City.

Uniquely, the Media & Business Complex combines event space with broadcast studios. The 10,000 sq feet of event space, including a 120 seat tiered theatre and four live studios, forms the centrepiece of the Exchange’s headquarters in Paternoster Square.

Commenting on the anniversary, Sally Everett, the Exchange’s Head of Broadcasting and Events, said:

“The first year has exceeded all of our expectations. We have received excellent feedback from clients on the design of our facilities and the quality of service received. The Media & Business Complex combines modern design and technology with excellent hospitality, creating an ideal environment for high profile events in the heart of the City.”

One satisfied client includes Winterthur Life, a leading provider of tailored products for pre and post retirement, which celebrated the fifth anniversary of its Elite funds with a cocktail reception at the Media & Business Complex. Guests included Olympians Matthew Pinsent, James Cracknel and Gary Herbert.

After the event, Tracy Hogan, Events and Incentive Planner at Winterthur Life, said:

"It was a pleasure to deal with professional event people who pulled out all the stops to make our event a huge success. The Media & Business Complex has the edge over many other facilities in the area."

In addition to the event space, the four live broadcast studios provide connectivity to the London Media Gateway and BT Tower for global broadcasts. The studios offer television channels and production companies the ability to broadcast with live market data, in a location that is at the heart of breaking financial news.

Michael Wilson, Sky News Business Editor, said:

"The London Stock Exchange studios are now an important part of our broadcast facilities. Because it’s so centrally located in the City, it’s easy to get high calibre guests and helps us react quickly to breaking news."

The Media & Business Complex will be exhibiting on stand J56 at London Venue Expo. The exhibition is being held from 29 to 30 June at ExCel, London.
