Graham Sharp, Avid Technology’s VP European Sales, will open the markets by switching on ‘The Source,’ a specially commissioned artwork in the main atrium of the London Stock Exchange’s building in Paternoster Square. The event will be broadcast live on the London Media Gateway on circuit MLSE506 and Avid Technology will be broadcasting coverage of the market open on their stand at Broadcast Live.
Since relocating in June 2004, the London Stock Exchange has established itself as the leading independent broadcast facility in the City of London. The Exchange provides broadcast clients with three fully-manned broadcast studios and an acoustically treated radio room. A fourth studio provides an ideal location for dry-hire, media training, recorded interviews or corporate videos. In addition, the Exchange’s 120 seat tiered theatre has connectivity to broadcast via ISDN, IP or BT Tower.
Studio 1, the Exchange’s largest studio, is equipped with an eight-cube video wall, spanning 10 square metres. Studios 2 and 3 are equipped with 46 inch plasma screens, and Studio 3 also has chroma-key technology. All studios can display live market data via VIZrt, and with connectivity to the London Media Gateway and BT Tower, television companies can broadcast globally.
The studios are complemented with the stylish Green Room. Equipped with market data terminals, internet access, laptop points and a refreshment station, the Green room provides a relaxed professional environment for both broadcasters and interviewees.
Sally Everett, the Exchange’s Head of Broadcasting and Events, said:
“The London Stock Exchange’s broadcast studios offer broadcasters a focal point for their business coverage. Subtle Exchange branding reinforces broadcasters’ market reports and being so centrally located in the City, it is easy for broadcasters to attract high calibre guests.”
Since opening in 2004, the Exchange’s studios have facilitated over 21,500 live broadcasts with a collective air-time of over 1000 hours. The studios are used for daily market reporting by BBC Breakfast, BBC News 24, BBC World, CNN International, CNBC Europe, Sky News and Channel 4.
The London Stock Exchange is exhibiting in the Location section on stand A34. Broadcast LIVE 2006 is being held from 20 to 22 June at Earls Court, London.
