The London Stock Exchange Group and Singapore Exchange have reportedly had talks about a joint bid for the London Metal Exchange.
The LME had earlier announced that it had been approached by several suitors and would start a formal review of offers.
Market consensus is that the LME may be worth about GBP 1.56 billion.
Other parties likely to take an interest in the LME include the CME Group, ICE and ICAP.
