The London Metal Exchange (LME) will visit Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Brazil from 3-13 September to host a series of seminars in partnership with Cesco (Center for Copper and Mining Studies). LME Chief Executive, Martin Abbott will be joined by industry experts to deliver day-long seminars on key issues facing the Latin American metals and mining industries.
"The LME has always had a strong relationship with the metals industries in Latin America and we are really pleased to have received support and interest from the metals markets from each region," said Catherine Markey, Head of Marketing and Education at the LME. "Continued uncertainty in metals prices highlights the need for price risk management, which will be the focus of our workshops."
"This is a good moment to analyse the tendencies of commodities' markets considering the uncertainty that has been introduced during the last months", said Juan Carlos Guajardo, Executive Director of Cesco. "The chance to do this alongside the London Metal Exchange is, without a doubt, a great opportunity and Cesco is very pleased to contribute to this Roadshow".
The LME is also collaborating with local companies and institutions including Camimex, the Mexican Mining Chamber; the Universidad Privada del Norte (Northern Private University of Peru); and Minería a Gran Escala, Colombia. At each location speakers will address topics specific to the region in question, as well as providing workshops on different aspects of trading on the LME.
A number of companies will sponsor and exhibit at the various events including Natixis, INTL FCStone and Thomson Reuters.
