The London Metal Exchange (LME) has completed a major upgrade to its electronic trading platform to offer users of the market faster access and more features.
The LMEselect 7 platform, jointly delivered by the LME, the Exchange's service delivery partner Xchanging and its technology provider Cinnober Financial Technology, will enable the LME to manage further increases in volumes.
Trading to date this year is up more than 20 percent on 2010, itself a record year.
To meet member demand the LME can also now offer proximity hosting, which enables users of the market to route trades more quickly to LMEselect 7.
"Our position as the premier base metal market in the world requires us to stay at the forefront of technology,” said Michael Warren, CTO of the LME. “We are continually enhancing and refining LMEselect for members, and with the new performance and functionality we are well-prepared for the next market and technology challenges.”
