The London Metal Exchange (LME) is to visit four Chinese cities from 21-30 November 2011 as part of an educational tour of the country. LME CEO Martin Abbott will be joined by the MD of LME Asia Liz Milan, and Head of Marketing and Education Catherine Markey, to provide day-long seminars to Chinese delegates.
The seminars will provide an introduction to the LME, including the function and benefits of hedging to protect against price volatility. The event’s sponsors, Newedge and Sucden Financial, will also provide presentations on trading on the LME.
“We are pleased to have received such great interest from the Chinese metals market since announcing the seminar series,” said Catherine Markey, who will be running the hedging workshops. “The trip responds to the growing demand from China to learn about onshore hedging on global exchanges such as the LME.”
Since announcing the tour two weeks ago the Shanghai seminar has sold out and a second day has been arranged to provide for the unexpectedly high demand.
