From February 2010 the London Metal Exchange's plastics futures contracts will be traded solely on the Exchange's electronic platform, LMESelect, and on the telephone market.
Open outcry trading in the Ring will cease at that time.
The decision was made after consultation with LME members was completed at the end of June.
Trading in the LME plastics contracts has been concentrated on LMESelect and the telephone markets.
