The London Metal Exchange (LME) has today announced a programme of international industry briefings to support the launch of its plastics contracts. The announcement follows confirmation that the LME will commence trading in both Polypropylene (PP) and Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LL) on 27 May 2005.
Industry briefings will take place in the following locations:
- 27 October 2004 Shanghai
- 29 October 2004 Singapore
- 17 November 2004 Houston
- 19 November 2004 Chicago
- 23 November 2004 Antwerp
Commenting on the activity, Simon Heale, LME Chief Executive said: “The understanding and full participation of the plastics industry in the development of the futures contracts is vital to a successful launch in May 2005.
These important events will help producers, converters, consumers and warehouses understand the mechanics of futures trading and the potential benefits of managing price risk through plastics futures contracts.”
