Market participants now have access to a breakdown of stock figures by warehouse location and by the contract grades; three grades for polypropylene and one grade for linear low density polyethylene. As with the LME’s non-ferrous metals contracts, the data will be made available through market data vendors and on the LME website.
Commenting on this announcement, Neil Banks, Director of Exchange Development said: “This data provides market participants with access to valuable and timely data regarding the movement of plastics into, and out of, warehouse. It is meaningful and valuable now that the shelf life of plastics has been extended, from six to ten months, as less material will be in transit at any given time.
The publication of plastics stocks data is all part of the LME’s commitment to data transparency.”
