Trading on the London Metal Exchange (LME) surged yesterday, with a record of 102,096 transactions registered.
LMEselect registered 51,841 transactions, which is the second busiest day on record after 5 August 2011. LMEselect trading was spread over 185,102 lots of which 98,804 lots were outrights.
To date this year the LME is averaging 563,239 lots per day, up 18% from the 2010 average daily volume.
