Ljubljana Stock Exchange: SBI20 Index Exceeds 3,400 Points For The First Time In History

On Monday, 21 October 2002, the trading day on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, Inc. closed with a new record high for its major SBI20 Index - at 3,411 points, which was by 3.9 percent more than on the previous trading day. New record value was also registered for the (Authorised) Investment Funds Index (PIX) that rose by 3.8 percent, to the final 2,600 points.

Following the publication of a higher takeover bid for the pharmaceutical company Lek, there was a substantial increase in demand for common and preferred shares of the mentioned issuer. A 10-percent price limitation in trading with LEK shares was temporarily removed, and their official price grew by 12.6 percent to SIT 101,680.00 for common shares and by 14.4 percent to SIT 101,601.00 for preferred shares accordingly. Prices of most shares on the official market, as well as of all indices of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange increased, next to a considerable total turnover of SIT 3.1 billion.
