Ljubljana Stock Exchange: Record-Breaking SBI20 Index

On 23 August 2002, Ljubljana Stock Exchange main index - SBI20 has recorded its all time high since the establishment of the Exchange in 1989. Its value reached 2,996.98 points, and rose by 3.2 per cent if compared to the previous trading day, and by 1.6 per cent in comparison to its earlier record value of 4 June 2002. Since the beginning of this year, SBI20 Index grew in value by 40 per cent.

Prices of most shares on the official market increased by several per cent, while a positive upward trend was registered also on other market segments - all Stock Exchange indices, with the exception of the Bond Index - BIO, grew within the range of 2 - 5 per cent. The gainer of the day was the (Authorised) Investment Funds Index - PIX, with its concluding value of 2,424.75 points, which was by 5.4 per cent more than the day before.

Common shares and preference shares of Lek, d. d., Ljubljana have been temporarily suspended from trading prior to market opening that day - the issuer published an invitation to negotiations about possible tender for redemption of all of its shares, thus contributing to the overall optimistic atmosphere among the investors.
