In 1999 the total turnover on the Exchange reached SIT 265.7 billion, which was a 53.2% increase over the year 1998. Turnover in individual months fluctuated between SIT 10 billion in July and SIT 44.3 billion in December. The record month of the first half-year was March (same as in 1998) when the Exchange recorded a turnover of SIT 24.3 billion. After the average months of April and May (compared to the other months of 1999). June recorded a slightly higher turnover (SIT 19 billion), but in July turnover dropped to its lowest value in 1999. The three autumn months (September, October and November) were again very successful as each individual month exceeded SIT 20 billion - during the three months trades for a total of SIT 72.6 billion were concluded or 27.3% of the annual turnover. A traditional peak of the year was reached again in December (SIT 44.3 billion), on its own accounting for as much as 16.7% of annual turnover on the Exchange.
In 1999 shares accounted for 63.4% (77% in 1998 and 80% in 1997) of the total turnover, bonds for 13.3% (almost the same in 1998 - 13%), short-term securities 2.4% (4% in 1998), and shares of PIDs 20.2% (6% in 1998).
In the 254 trading days of 1999 the average number of transactions per day was 1,760 (943 in the 252 trading days of 1998) representing an increase of 86.6% compared to 1998. The average turnover per day was SIT 1 billion in 1999 and SIT 688 million in 1998.
On 30 December 1999 the total market capitalisation of securities traded on the Exchange (including shares of investment funds) amounted to SIT 918.7 billion (investment funds SIT 125.3 billion).
