Liquidnet Expands Market Surveillance Team In Europe

Liquidnet, the global institutional trading network, announce the appointment of Christopher Wall as Head of Market Surveillance in Europe and David Stockwell as Market Surveillance Specialist. 

Mr Wall’s primary responsibilities are to lead and manage the surveillance team’s daily operations, including operating a robust market-leading surveillance system, Liquidity Watch. He is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory initiatives such as the FCA Code of Market Conduct and ESMA guidelines. Based in London, Mr Wall reports directly to Anna-Maria De La Roche, Liquidnet’s European Head of Compliance and Regulation.

As a surveillance specialist, Mr Stockwell's role at Liquidnet will be to proactively monitor all Members and participants' trading activity on the network as well as investigate and alert any cases of potential market abuse to the regulator.

Mr Wall joins from Newedge, where he was a Senior Compliance Officer working in the company’s London office. He led the Trade Monitoring Team which reviewed and dealt with market abuse and exchange rule breach alerts. Prior to this he was a Business Analyst at The Royal Bank of Scotland and held senior roles at Bear Stearns International Limited and Euronext LiFFE.

Prior to joining Liquidnet, Mr Stockwell was an equities trader at Société Générale and before that at Wood Street Capital and ABN AMRO.
