LIFFE To Launch Option On FTSE Eurotop 100 Index

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) today announced it that will launch an option contract on the FTSE Eurotop 100 Index on Monday 18 October 1999. Hugh Freedberg LIFFE's Chief Executive, said "LIFFE's new FTSE Eurotop 100 Options contract will complement the FTSE Eurotop 100 Futures contract, LIFFE's longest running pan-European stock index contract. Since its launch in May 1998, the futures contract has seen a spectacular growth in volume of 187% year on year and open interest recently touched one billion euros by value. This new option completes the spectrum of LIFFE's pan-European index products". LIFFE offers the widest range of futures and options on pan-European stock indices allowing customers to choose the right stock index products for trading and hedging their preferred pan-European equity index benchmark. The launch of this option contract will further support LIFFE's customers active in the underlying futures contract. The new FTSE 100 Eurotop Options contract will be launched on LIFFE CONNECT™ for Equities and the contract specifications are consistent with LIFFE's other European index options.
