LIFFE Appoints Peter Friend As Chief Operating Officer

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) today announced that Peter Friend, Managing Director of Finance and Operations has been appointed as the Exchange’s Chief Operating Officer.

In his new role, Peter Friend will be responsible for the operations and service relationships of the new technology business, the core exchange business and the support functions of LIFFE.

Hugh Freedberg, LIFFE’s Chief Executive said, “Peter has made a valuable contribution to the restructuring of the Exchange and I am delighted to announce his appointment to this new position. The role of Chief Operating Officer is important as we begin the process of creating a new technology company, separate but closely aligned with the regulated core exchange business. Peter will lead the initial process to commercialise our technology, develop further our relationship with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and establish the operational framework to support these new developments.”

Peter Friend will assume responsibility for the overall direction of IT and retains accountability for Finance and Operations in his new appointment. He will continue as a member of LIFFE’s Executive Committee.
