LIFFE appoints new head of Non-Financial Products

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) is pleased to announce that Bill Smit has been appointed as the Exchange's Head of Non-Financial Products. Mr Smit is a well-rounded and highly experienced Commodity Market professional. He has held senior management positions at Prudential-Bache, Berisford International and E F Hutton, and has had responsibility for both front and back office operations, and sales, working in the United States and Europe. Mr Smit was, until recently, a member of the London Clearing House Board. Hugh Freedberg, LIFFE's Chief Executive, said, "I am delighted that Bill has decided to join LIFFE as Head of Non-Financial Products. His wealth of experience in both commodity and financial derivatives will be of enormous value in enabling LIFFE to realise the full potential of this product group". Mr Smit will be joining the Exchange today, Wednesday 1 September 1999.
