On 17th November 2016, Lee Hodgkinson from the pan European exchange Euronext was elected as FESE Vice President for a term of three years. The election was unanimously approved by the FESE General Assembly at their bi-annual meeting in Brussels today.
Lee Hodgkinson has been serving as a Member of FESE’s Board since June 2014 and has been actively involved in the work of the association for a number of years.
Mr Lee Hodgkinson said; “I would like to thank the Members of FESE for electing me as Vice President, it is an honour for me to take on this prestigious role. As the collective voice of exchanges in Europe, I believe that FESE provides a powerful forum for an open and forward-looking debate on the future of European capital markets. I am fully committed to working closely with our President in support of our Membership to shape the work of the association at this time, when the global competitiveness of our markets will be increasingly important. We will continue to drive positive and dynamic reform in the European capital markets, in cooperation with regulators and other stakeholders in the financial community. I also look forward to working closely with FESE Director General Rainer Riess. “

The FESE General Assembly also endorsed the renewal of three Board Member positions for a further three years:

- Robert Scharfe, CEO of Luxembourg Stock Exchange
- Martin Reck, Managing Director Cash Markets at Deutsche Boerse

About Lee Hodgkinson
Lee Hodgkinson is the Head of Markets and Global Sales of Euronext and CEO of Euronext London Limited. Mr Hodgkinson joined Euronext, when it was part of NYSE Euronext, in 2009 as CEO of SmartPool, the European dark pool joint venture with J.P. Morgan, HSBC and BNP Paribas. As a member of the executive committee of NYSE Euronext he led the sales and client coverage division in Europe and Asia for the LIFFE and Euronext businesses.
Prior to holding these positions, he was CEO of SIX Swiss Exchange’s blue-chip international equity business, SWX Europe (formerly known as virt-x). A member of the Management Board of SIX Swiss Exchange since 2003, he held various executive leadership roles in Zurich including head of the client and products division and head of market operations. Prior to this he spent two years as Head of Market Development at the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange.
Mr Hodgkinson began his career with the Markets Division of the London Stock Exchange, where he worked for nine years and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School.
