NZX is pleased to announce that the launch of milk price options contracts will occur on 30 June 2016. This follows the successful launch of milk price futures contracts on 27 May.
These contracts are designed to assist farmers wishing to manage volatility in the New Zealand milk price.
NZX Head of Markets Mark Peterson commented: “It’s encouraging to see early market participation in the futures contracts, which are already being used to manage price risk in the 2017/18 season. Adding options to this suite of risk management tools provides farmers with greater flexibility in how they manage risk, and gets New Zealand on par with competitors overseas who already offer these tools to farmers.”

NZX is hosting education seminars on the contracts – with accredited brokers First NZ Capital, OM Financial and FCStone – at New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays in Mystery Creek, Hamilton this week.
