KVH Co., Ltd. today announced that it has joined as an official solution provider for AWS Direct Connect, a service that has been launched starting today in Japan by Amazon Web Services (hereinafter referred to as “AWS”) KVH starts offering KVH Ether-MAN Plus, a low latency Ethernet service and KVH SmartGiga(R), a multi-gigabit-class high-speed and private connection service for users of AWS Direct Connect from today.
AWS Direct Connect is a service that enables companies to access their data on AWS directly through a secure private network connection and not through an Internet connection. KVH’s network services have advantages in terms of speed, availability, resiliency, and scalability as well as the company’s proven track record within the financial services sector. Using the latest technology and flat network architecture, KVH operates a highly secure network with the lowest-level latency in Japan that addresses the mission critical data communications needs of enterprises and services providers.
Trusted by many companies including financial firms performing high frequency trading, KVH’s Ether-MAN Plus is a low latency Ethernet-based service that combines the reliability of a private line service with the flexibility of a wide-area Ethernet service. KVH Ether-MAN Plus is available to users of AWS Direct Connect as a 1000Base-LX/SX interface point-to-point private line connection with bandwidth options ranging from 100 to 900Mbps. This KVH service guarantees high quality with SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for service delivery (standard), fault handling (standard), and round-trip latency (optional, measured between customer premises equipment and AWS Direct Connect handoff point, within Tokyo 23 wards).
KVH SmartGiga(R) is a low latency private line service that specifically focuses on secure point-to-point communications for those with high bandwidth and low latency requirements. This service provides a proprietary high-speed, high-capacity network with a shortened standard service delivery time of only one and a half months. Moreover, this service is very scalable, making it well suited as a cloud platform connecting multiple data centers as well as for real time transmission of large volumes of data. KVH SmartGiga(R) is available to AWS Direct Connect users as a 1Gbps/10Gbps Ethernet protocol dedicated service with SLAs for service delivery, fault handling, and service availability.
