Kuwait Stock Exchange Trading Report For January 2002

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 1,755.9 points at the end of January, an increase of 46.5 points from the closing value at the end December. The weighted index reached 134.87 points at the end of January, an increase of 3.27 points from the closing value at the end of December.

Volume of trading in January was 1,793,457,500 shares, an increase of 38.98% over the December volume. The value traded in January was KWD 423,538,905 an increase of 59.46 % over the December trading value. There were 36,688 transactions in January, an increase of 60.51% over the December figure.

There were 90 listed companies at end January. The shares of 90 companies were traded in January. In January of the traded companies, 66 increased in price, 21 decreased in price and 3 companies registered no change.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at end January was KWD 8,299,270,000.
