Kuwait Stock Exchange Trading Report For August 2005

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 9,642.3 points at the end of August, an increase of 669.2 points from the closing value at the end of July. The weighted index reached 484.78 points at the end of August, an increase of 17.31 points from the closing value at the end of July.

Volume of trading in August was 5,107,998,000 shares, a decrease of 49.9% over the previous month's volume. The value traded in August was KWD 2,510,869,555 an increase of 34.2% over the previous month's value. There were 184,715 transactions in August, an increase of 38.3 % over the previous month's number of transactions.

152 companies were traded in August. Of the traded companies, 109 increased in price and 41 decreased in price.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at end August was KWD 31,068,926,000.
