Kuwait Stock Exchange Trading Report For August 2004

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 5,904.5 points at the end of August, an increase of 225.5 points from the closing value at the end of July. The weighted index reached 313.58 points at the end of August, an increase of 4.93 points from the closing value at the end of July.

Volume of trading in August was 3,212,342,500 shares, an increase of 32.51% over the previous month's volume. The value traded in August was KWD 1,309,605,935 an increase of 28.71% over the previous month's value. There were 93,920 transactions in August, an increase of 26.97% over the previous month's number of transactions.

110 companies were traded in August. Of the traded companies, 71 increased in price and 36 decreased in price.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at end August was KWD 19,084,804,000.
