Kuwait Stock Exchange Trading Report For August 2002

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 2,169 points at the end of August, a decrease of 30.9 points from the closing value at the end of July. The weighted index reached 159.87 points at the end of August, an increase of 0.75 points from the closing value at the end of July.

Volume of trading in August was 1,065,268,000 shares, a decrease of 67.36% over the July volume. The value traded in August was KWD 254,736,230 a decrease of 70.84 % over the July trading value. There were 25,892 transactions in August, a decrease of 52.11% over the July figure.

There were 97 listed companies at end August. The shares of 85 companies were traded in August. In August of the traded companies, 72 increased in price, 9 decreased in price and 4 companies registered no change.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at end August was KWD 9,681,840.
