Kuwait Stock Exchange Third Quarter Report 2003

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 4,359.5 points at the end of September 2003, an increase of 769 points from the closing value at the end of June, 2003. The weighted index reached 269.25 points at the end of September, an increase of 39.64 points from the closing value at the end of the previous quarter.

Volume of trading in the third quarter was 11,268,366,500 shares, a decrease of 27.74% over the previous quarter volume. The value traded in the third quarter was KWD 4,202,708,780 a decrease of 22% over the previous quarter trading value. There were 271,329 transactions in the third quarter, a decrease of 22.76 % over the previous quarter figure.

There were 108 listed companies at end September. The shares of 102 companies were traded in the third quarter. In the third quarter of the traded companies, 76 increased in price and 26 decreased in price.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at end September was KWD 16,082,084.
