The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 10,221 points at the end of March 2007, an increase of 154.3 points from the closing value at the end of the previous 4th quarter. The weighted index reached 591.6 points at the end of March, an increase of 21.2 points from the closing value at the end of the previous 4th quarter.
Volume of trading in the first quarter was 9,517,686,000 shares, a decrease of 14% over the previous quarter volume. The value traded in the first quarter was KWD 5,264,389,940 an increase of 2% over the previous quarter trading value. There were 332,743 transactions in the first quarter, a decrease of 15% over the previous quarter figure.
There were 177 traded companies at end March. In the first quarter, of the traded companies, 60 increased in price and 116 decreased in price.
The market capitalisation of the exchange for the quarter was KWD 31,251,626,000.
