Kuwait Stock Exchange First Quarter Report 2006

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 9,896.7 points at the end of March 2006, a decrease of 1,548.4 points from the closing value at the end of the previous 4th quarter. The weighted index reached 503.9 points at the end of March, a decrease of 58.34 points from the closing value at the end of the previous 4th quarter.

Volume of trading in the first quarter was 9,029,168,000 shares, a decrease of 39.6% over the previous quarter volume. The value traded in the first quarter was KWD 4,650,280,265 a decrease of 46% over the previous quarter trading value. There were 357,413 transactions in the first quarter, a decrease of 42.5% over the previous quarter figure.

There were 161 traded companies at end March. In the first quarter, of the traded companies, 26 increased in price and 135 decreased in price.

The market capitalisation of the exchange for the quarter was KWD 30,711,680,000.
