Kuwait Stock Exchange First Quarter Report 2005

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 7,869.1 points at the end of March 2005, an increase of 1,459.6 points from the closing value at the end of the previous 4th quarter. The weighted index reached 409.1 points at the end of March, an increase of 73.24 points from the closing value at the end of the previous 4th quarter.

Volume of trading in the first quarter was 9,678,934,500 shares, an increase of 39.35% over the previous quarter volume. The value traded in the first quarter was KWD 4,970,308,675 an increase of 35.21% over the previous quarter trading value. There were 303,274 transactions in the first quarter, an increase of 21.02 % over the previous quarter figure.

There were 135 traded companies at end March. In the first quarter, of the traded companies, 66 increased in price and 68 decreased in price.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at end March was KWD 24,486,681,000.
