Kuwait Stock Exchange Annual Report 2005

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 11,445.1 points at the end of the year, an increase of 5,035.6 points from the closing value at the end of the previous year. The weighted index reached 226.38 points at the end of the year, an increase of 55.7% from the closing value at the end of the previous year.

Volume of trading in the year was 52,246,314,500 shares, an increase of 55.7% over the previous year's volume. The value traded in the year was KWD 28,422,120,095 an increase of 86% over the previous year's value. There were 1,955,650 transactions in the year, an increase of 84.9% over the previous year's number of transactions.

Of the 163 listed companies, 162 companies were traded in the year. Of the traded companies, 114 increased in price and 48 decreased in price.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at the end of the year was KWD 30,396,219,000.
