The term of President is for one year.
The Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance (CACG) was established in 1998. Its mission is to promote excellence in corporate governance in Commonwealth Countries. CACG has conducted workshops in some 27 Commonwealth countries. Its programmes involve working with directors on the ground in their countries to create and enhance the understanding and practice of better corporate governance and building institutional capacity.
In his acceptance speech, Mohd Azlan said he looks forward to working closely with all members of the association in pursuing the objectives of CACG.
"To succeed we will require and hope that all members will extend full support and co-operation in working as a team to achieve common objectives," he said.
Mohd Azlan added in Malaysia, there has been progress in clearly prescribing and documenting an enhanced corporate governance framework. He noted that there has been concerted effort by government, industry regulators and market participants to improve and strengthen the practice of good corporate governance.
"Moving forward, let us all share in the the burden of improvement and in the fruits of achievement.
"Together I am confident, we as an organisation, can contribute significantly to leading the cause and promoting good corporate governance standards and practices among countries in the Commonwealth," Mohd Azlan said.
