On April 24, 2008, Korea Exchange (KRX) held an opening ceremony of its Beijing representative office at the JW Marriot Hotel. KRX was the fourth Exchange to receive a regulatory approval from the Chinese government in November, 2007.
The Beijing office will function as the center of operations for enhancing KRX’s brand and services to meet the various needs of Chinese companies and the financial industry. We expect to see widening cooperation between two respective countries.
“It is an honor for the KRX to open a representative office in Beijing. We look forward to further strengthening our relationship with Chinese business community. In particular, we are grateful to the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CRSC) for their ongoing support.” said Mr. Jung-hwan Lee, Chairman & CEO of KRX.
Currently, there are three Chinese companies listed on KRX with market capitalization of 14.5 billion Korean Won as of March 31. The representative office located in Chaoyang District, Beijing’s central business district, will be headed by Mr. Chang-Woo Han.
