KPNQwest Shareholders Elect Two New Supervisory Board Members

KPNQwest announced the election of Pierre Everaert and Richard Liebhaber to the company's Supervisory Board at its Extraordinary General Meeting of shareholders today in the Netherlands.
Pierre Everaert is a distinguished international executive and author, with significant experience in managing the globalisation of industry in Europe, the U.S.A., Asia, and South America. He is a former Executive Vice President of Philips Electronics and former Chairman of Philips North American Corporation. His career responsibilities include: President and CEO of Koninklijke Ahold NV (1989-1993) and of Ahold USA (1985-1989), Vice Chairman of Général Biscuit, France, CEO of General
Biscuits of America, and Vice Chairman of a joint venture between General Biscuits and the Glico Corporation of Osaka, Japan. He was also President of Goodyear de Panama.
He currently is the acting CEO of Baan Company and serves on the boards of Interbrew SA, C&A Europe, Banque Paribas, HCL Technologies, and several other international corporations. He is visiting professor at the University of Gent, Belgium and co-author with Peter Drucker of "The Organisation of the Future" (1998).
Richard Liebhaber has spent his entire high tech career at the cutting edge of change in the global communications industry. His 30-year career with IBM culminated in the creation of both Prodigy, the consumer home information service, on whose Board he served until 1993 and the SBS joint venture that IBM launched with Aetna and CBS in 1984. In 1985 joined MCI as Executive Vice President of Network and Information Systems and was a member of MCI's board of Directors from
1992-1995, where he was instrumental in MCI's international business development activities.
Mr. Liebhaber is currently a Consulting Managing Director at Veronis, Suhler & Associates, the New York Media Merchant Banking firm. Mr Liebhaber also serves on the boards of AVICI Systems, Internet Communications Corporation, Rare Medium Group and Alcatel USA. He also serves on the boards of a number of charitable and educational foundations, including the Abilene Internet 2 Project at the University Corporation of Advanced Internet Development (UCAID). In addition he serves as
advisor and board member of a number of technology and networking venture capital initiatives.
Mr. Everaert and Mr Liebhaber join the KPNQwest Supervisory Board, which consists of Joseph Nacchio, Drake Tempest and Robert Woodruff of Qwest, and Joop Drechsel, Eelco Blok and Marten Pieters of KPN.
