KOSDAQ Index Rises As The World’s Fastest Growing Stock Index During The First Half Of 2005

The KOSDAQ Index rose by 28.89% during the first half of 2005(from Jan. 2 to May 16, 2005), thereby posting the fastest growth rate of the 45 indexes of the WFE(World Federation of Exchanges) member exchanges, while the KOSPI ranked 8th with a growth rate of 11.97%.

In terms of market capitalization, as of end of May 2005 the Korea Exchange (KRX) was the 13th largest market in the world with a volume of US$ 491 billion, moving up two notches from 2004.

From the beginning of January to June 16, 2005 the KRX recorded US$ 381.6 billion in accumulated trading value and was ranked 10th in the world – a position that remains unchanged since 2004.
