Korea Futures Exchange Will Be Closed On January 1

The Korea Futures Exchange (KOFEX) will be closed on January 1, 2004, in observance of the New Year’s holiday, and re-open on January 2, 2004. According to the revised rules, KOFEX will continue trading in all contracts on December 31, except KOSDAQ 50 futures and KOSDAQ 50 options, both of which will be finally traded for the year on December 30. Trading hours will remain unchanged.

On January 2, 2004, when the market opens for the new year, trading in KOSDAQ 50 futures and options will start at 10:00, one hour later than usual, in line with the opening time of the underlying KOSDAQ market. As a result, the trading hours will run from 10:00 through 15:15, effective only for that day.

Since the cash market opens one hour late at 10:00, KOSPI 200 futures and options trading will also start at 10:00, instead of 9:00, the usual opening time, and close at 15:15, as usual.

Trading hours for the rest of the products will be the same.

Note - KOSDAQ Stock Market and the Korea Stock Exchange open one hour late, 10:00, on January 2, the first trading day of the year.
