KLSE Y2K Rollover Successful

The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) has successfully completed its rollover to the year 2000.
All six KLSE mission critical systems were confirmed to be free of any Y2K problems after 1:00 a.m. 1 January 2000. The mission critical systems include those involving: Trading; Clearing & Settlement; Depository; Surveillance; Stock information; Public listed companies disclosure information.
All stockbroking companies and Authorised Direct Members (ADMs) - comprising custodian banks and institutional funds - have also declared they are free of Y2K problems.
Yesterday, KLSE successfully completed conducting its post Y2K end-to-end industry wide test on trading related systems, including testing both the first and second trading sessions.
The post Y2K end-to-end industry test involving KLSE and all stockbroking companies confirmed that stockbroking companies are free of Y2K problems. KLSE's internal user systems tested yesterday have also been verified to be free of Y2K problems.
KLSE will continue its scheduled Y2K compliance monitoring as follows: 3 January 2000 - Verify system readiness before trading. Status update for stockbroking companies settlement. 4 January 2000 - Status update on stockbroking companies processing systems of previous day trade contracts. Status update of settlement files downloading from KLSE to stockbroking companies.
Investors can continue to make Y2K enquiries at the KLSE at telephone no: 03-466 6166 (Hunting Line) and fax no: 03-466 6164 which will be operational for 24 hours from 1 Jan to 4 Jan 2000.
Investors who wish to obtain their Central Depository System (CDS) account statements can continue to do so at stockbroking companies and ADMs between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from 30 December 1999 to 2 January 2000.
As has been previously announced, KLSE will resume its full operations including its trading, clearing and settlement and depository operations on Monday, 3 January 2000.
The Kuala Lumpur Options & Financial Futures Exchange Bhd (KLOFFE), a member of the KLSE Group, has confirmed its systems are free of Y2K problems and it is ready to open for trading on Monday, 3 January 2000. KLOFFE has successfully conducted its mock run today with full declaration of Y2K readiness from all its licensed trading members.
