KLD Indexes Rebranded FTSE KLD Sustainability/Social Indexes - Name Changes Reflect Global Partnership Of Two Firms, Changes In ESG Index Marketplace

Date 19/08/2009

KLD Research & Analytics, Inc., the leading provider of environmental, social and governance (ESG) research and indexes, and FTSE, the award-winning global index provider, today announced that they have rebranded KLD’s family of indexes as FTSE KLD Indexes.

The rebranding of the 16 indexes marks the implementation of the strategic partnership the companies announced in October 2008. A table of the rebranded indexes – including the world’s first socially screened benchmark, now the FTSE KLD 400 – appears below:

FTSE is a global market leader in the creation and management of indexes that support investment analysis and serve as market benchmarks. A leader in index innovation, FTSE established a business unit dedicated to responsible investment in 2001. KLD is a leading brand in the responsible investing market, with 20 years of experience in the development and marketing of ESG research, ratings and indexes.

“Since its founding in 1988, KLD’s mission has been to bring ESG criteria into the mainstream of investment analysis,” said Thomas Kuh, Managing Director of KLD Indexes. “FTSE and KLD collaborate on both the conception and design of the co-branded ESG indexes. This partnership broadens our reach to investors worldwide.”

Will Oulton, Director of Responsible Investment at FTSE said, “FTSE has the most comprehensive range of ESG indices in the market, and this important partnership allows us to further support our clients in integrating these factors into their investment approaches and strategies.”
