Kitipong Urapeepatanapong Re-Elected As SET Chairperson

The Board of Governors (BoG) of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), at its special meeting today, resolved to re-elect Professor Kitipong Urapeepatanapong as Chairperson for another term, with effect from August 5, 2025.

Professor Kitipong possesses extensive knowledge and experience in the financial and capital markets with exceptional legal expertise. During his latest tenure as the SET Chairperson, he has spearheaded pivotal initiatives and transformations. His key accomplishments include the enhancement and establishment of regulatory frameworks for trading supervision and investor protection, the expansion of access to capital market financing for family businesses, the advancement of SET’s operations to address the transformation in modern era through AI integration for advancing capital market development, and the implementation of JUMP+ program to drive value creation among Thai listed companies. He also strengthened corporate governance and transparency while promoting strong inter-agency cooperation in legal enforcement processes to build up trust and confidence in the Thai capital market. He has served as a SET governor across multiple terms during various periods since 2014, with this appointment representing his fifth governorship term.

Professor Kitipong earned a bachelor’s degree in law with honors from Chulalongkorn University, master’s degrees in law from Chulalongkorn University and the University of British Columbia, Canada, and an honorary doctorate degree in law from Hatyai University. He has also been admitted as Thai barrister-at-law (Period 29th) by the Thai Bar Association and achieved a diploma in the National Defence Program Class 48 from the National Defence College (NDC). Currently, Professor Kitipong holds key positions across multiple prestigious public and private organizations.

The current SET BoG consists of 11 governors: Professor Kitipong Urapeepatanapong (SET Chairperson), Pichet Sithi-Amnuai (SET Vice Chairperson), Komkrit Kietduriyakul, Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn, Penchun Jarikasem, Rawin Boonyanusasna, Somchai Lertsutiwong, Thanapisal Koohapremkit, M.L. Thongmakut Thongyai, Varah Sucharitakul, and Asadej Kongsiri (SET President).
