The number of securities accounts operated by Participants of the National Depository for Securities (KDPW) increased by 1,218 in November 2010. November was another month of continuing growth in the number of securities accounts: the number of accounts operated by brokerage houses and banks totalled 1,498,282 at the end of the month.
“The number of securities accounts has grown by more than 366 thousand year to date. The dynamic increase in the number of accounts has been driven by large privatisation projects opened by the State Treasury on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Some offerings, like Tauron, have attracted up to 140 thousand new investors to the stock market” said KDPW CEO Iwona Sroka.
The highest number of new securities accounts in November were opened by Dom Inwestycyjny BRE with 5,731 new accounts. Noble Securities ranked second as it opened 2,051 new accounts in November 2010. Biuro Maklerskie Alior Banku was in the third position with 1,075 new accounts.
The highest percentage growth in the number of new accounts was reported by Noble Securities – 23 percent.
The top three institutions which operated the highest number of securities accounts in November were the same as in October: Dom Inwestycyjny BRE Banku ranked first with 282,944 accounts followed by Centralny Dom Maklerski Pekao SA with 224,551 accounts and DM Pekao SA with 180,428 accounts at the end of November.
