The CEO of Krajowy Depozyt Papierów Wartościowych Ms Iwona Sroka has been re-elected to the Executive Committee of the European Central Securities Depositories Association (ECSDA) by ECSDA members (39 representatives of European CSDs) at the General Meeting in Warsaw on 20 May 2016.
The Executive Committee (ExCo) heads the work of the organisation, currently including mainly post-trade regulatory issues. Other ExCo members elected together with Iwona Sroka represent Clearstream (Germany; ICSD), Euroclear (Belgium, Netherlands, Finland, France, Ireland, Sweden, UK; ICSD), KELER (Hungary), OeKB CSD (Austria), Iberclear (Spain), LCD (Lithuania), NSD (Russia), Monte Titoli (Italy), VP Securities (Denmark), ATHEXCSD (Greece), KDD (Slovenia), SKDD (Croatia).
“It is an honour for KDPW and Poland to have such trust of ESDA members and get elected to the Executive Committee. In view of the dynamically changing environment of the European financial market and new post-trade regulation, the voice of industry organisations will be key to having a professional dialogue with regulators and lawmakers. Personally, I will contribute to the ESDA work and make best efforts to ensure that the position and interests of smaller markets are well represented in European projects,” said KDPW CEO Iwona Sroka.
KDPW hosted this year’s ECSDA General Meeting. Close to 30 CEOs of European CSDs met in Warsaw. Mathias Papenfuß, Member of the Executive Board of Clearstream Banking (since 2013), was re-elected as Chairman of the Association for another term of three years.
The European Central Securities Depositories Association was established in Madrid in 1997. It represents 41 national and international central securities depositories in 37 European countries. It is a forum for CSDs to exchange opinions, take joint initiatives, issue opinions on draft securities settlement legislation. European CSDs processed 640 million settlement transactions worth EUR 1.17 quadrillion in 2015.
